PvP Duels

Updated

Online duels put your hero against another player's hero, live, in the Sunken Shrine. The AI fights for you unless you take control, so you can let it play or fight the duel yourself. Duels change your rating only: they pay nothing, cost nothing, and nothing you own is ever at risk.

Finding a rival

Press the PvP chip in the arena to start looking for a live rival. Your hero keeps farming while you wait. The search looks for someone in your region who is close to you in power and rating first, then in any region after 15 seconds, and after 30 seconds it takes anyone. When a rival is found, a versus screen appears and the duel starts.

  • Keep the game open and visible while it searches. A hidden tab pauses the search, and it carries on when you come back.
  • The search card under the chip shows the search clock, your rating, your record and your power tier. You can hide it (the chip opens it again) or stop searching.
  • PvP stays on between duels: the next search starts 10 seconds after you are back in the game.
  • You can search in one tab at a time. A search started in another tab replaces this one.
  • You never meet the same rival twice within 15 minutes. If they are the only other player searching, you wait for someone new.
  • The PvP chip appears from hero level 20.

Fighting

The duel starts with the AI fighting for you. Press T (or tap Take control) to fight it yourself. Right-click to move or attack. Your skills are on Q, W, E, D and R: hold the key to aim and release it to cast at the pointer. A attacks the rival, S stops, and Space dodges. Change any key, or switch to click to cast, in Game menu, Controls. A skill pressed while another one is still casting waits its turn and casts right after it. Your Graphics choice is kept for your next duels; on Automatic, a phone, a slow device or the game's Low graphics setting starts the duel on Performance. On a phone, use the buttons on screen. Press T again to hand the fight back to the AI.

While you are in control, your hero keeps attacking and dodging on its own between your orders, so you choose the skills and where to stand. A skill aimed near your rival locks onto them. Against a hero you control, the AI reacts and aims like a person, so playing the duel yourself pays off.

  • If you leave or lose the connection, the AI keeps fighting for you and the result counts as usual.
  • If your rival never joins, the AI fights in their place and the duel does not change ratings.
  • A duel lasts at most 180 seconds. When time runs out, the hero with the larger share of health left wins. Equal shares, or both heroes falling together, is a draw.

Hero strength

Your Power places you in one of six power tiers, and the duel gives you that tier's fighter with your class's own skills. Your exact gear and stats do not count beyond the tier: they matter by raising your Power, and Elemental Stones count the same way, through your Power.

Every duel plays out differently: each AI has its own timing and habits, and which side you start on changes from duel to duel. A mage casts Fireball and Glacial Bloom on the move.

Rating and the leaderboard

Online duels have their own rating, starting at 1,200. Wins and losses move it on a standard Elo curve: beating a stronger rival moves you more than beating a weaker one, losing to a much stronger rival costs you little, and a draw counts as half a win.

Fresh ladder. When the new duel rules arrived on 23 October 2026, every online rating went back to 1,200 and the PvP leaderboard started again.
Season 4 reset. At the Season 4 reset on 15 October 2026, every online rating went back to 1,200, and records, duel history and the PvP leaderboard started again.

The Record button on the PvP chip shows your rating, your wins, losses and draws, your last 20 duels and the top 50. The PvP tab on the Leaderboard ranks the top 100. Banned and frozen accounts are left out.
